March Favourites

It's come to that time of the month again where; not only do we share the products and things we've loved over the last few weeks, but we also throw out the "oh my god is it really [insert month here] already!" I thought this year was actually going pretty slowly but now it's hit April I'm starting to freak out a little in the 'where's the time going' department. Anywho, let's get onto why you're actually here, my March favourites.

March Beauty Favourites

My first product this month is something I've litterally fallen head over heals for. The Dior AirFlash foundation has made it into my favourites for many reasons; 1. It's a spray, and although I didn't think I'd ever be adding a spray to my collection this is the easier foundations I've ever used, simply spray onto your brush and you're good to go. 2. The finish of this foundation is incredible. No foundation has ever made me face look this flawless before. 3. It's coverage is great, it can range form 'BB light' to 'face full off foundation' depending on how much you use, anyone can use it no matter how much make up they like to wear. Finally 4. The finish is a satin one so it works for all skin times. It really helps prevent my oily T-zone from erupting throughout the day but doesn't cling to any of the odd dry patches I tend to get. I've done a full review here but if you're looking for one word to describe this foundation I think we can settle with 'miracle'!

The second favourite is something I don't normally reach for one main reason...I used to hate baths. I was one for choosing a quick shower over a soak in the tub any day but I've started to change my mind, so much so that I'm actually investing in bath salts! The Neil's Yard Lavender bath salts are a delight to share my water with as, unlike bubble baths and bath bombs, there is no messiness that sticks to you as you relax. The smell is also incredible, it fills your bathroom with lavenderie goodness, and once a cynic of believing the effects bath salts could actually achieve, the Neil's Yard salts have converted me into a firm believer. No only do these little salts leave my muscles and body completely relax, my mind seems at ease too. Both me and the other half have amazing night's sleep after spending the evening with these little beauties.

Sticking with Neil's Yard, I've been using the Palmarosa Facial Wash (more suited towards combination and oily skin types) for the past few weeks now and I can already see amazing effects to my skin. The main improvement I've noticed is that I don't wake up in the morning with that 'over night shine' I seem to normally wake with. I've also noticed, combined with the AirFlash foundation, it's taking considerably longer for my skin to build up shine throughout the day. Not only does it smell incredible (I can't put my finger on what that smell actually is though) it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth all day. I'm even reaching for it over my usual favourite, Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, and that's saying a hell of a lot.

My next favourite is the Burt's Bees Bee's Wax Lip balm. I've actually loved this for a very long time (hence the very battered packaging) but never included it in a favourites. I think it's because I use it so much I sort of forget about it, it's become something so necessary to my life I forget it's considered a beauty product. It's probably the only lip balm I've used that actually feels like it's doing some good for my lips. The cold weather outside and the extra high heating inside plays absolute hell with my lips and this is the only lip balm that seems to control it for a decent length of time. My lips feel hydrated and calm for ages, and unlike other lip balms I've used, I'm only applying this once every few hours to keep my lips soothed.

Finally a bit of and odd yet obvious one...Instagram. I'm obsessed with it at the moment and, although I'm not posting as many pictures as I once have, I find it's my most used form of social media at the moment. It's the first thing I check in the morning and the last thing I scroll through at night. Twitter has definitely been put on the back burner! I love finding new people to follow and looking through everyone's amazing, creative and beautiful pictures. I've even decided to start doing monthly Instagram posts where I decribe my month using my Instagram posts. My first one went live last week and I'm very excited about keeping this sort of post up. I've decided to call it my monthly Snapbook and I love it.

Bugger I forgot to Instagram that shit

How's has you're March been? What have you loved throughout the month? Finally please leave your Instagram links below cause I'd love to follow more people and check mine out here if you're interested.

Dior AirFlash Spray Foundation Review

I think I've gone and done it, I think I've finally gone and bloody done it! I've finally found the Holy Grail of all foundations. Ok so we're all make up lovers here and yes we do tend to throw that statement around a little willy-nilly (or every time we fall in love with a new product) but this time I really mean it.

So, what exactly is this miracle product I speak of? And yes I did just drop the M bomb! Well if you hadn't already guessed by the title, it's the Dior Airflash Foundation and it's like nothing I'v ever tried before! For one it's an aerosol spray foundation and I never thought I'd ever be adding a spray to my collection. I need to start off by stating I don't actually spray this foundation straight onto the face as it's just a bit messy, a bit awkward and a bit difficult, instead I spray a little onto my Sigma Beauty Kabukiv F80 Brush and then blend it in. Although it sounds complicated and fiddly it's actually the easiest foundation to apply.

Dior AirFlash Spray Foundation Review

The best thing about this foundation is it's finish, I'm not even exaggerating when I say it's beautiful. It makes your skin look flawless without looking cakey or like your wearing too much make up. It makes your skin look airbrushed (hence 'Airflash') and I've never seen my skin look so nice and clear before. It's a satin finish meaning it's great for all skin types. The coverage is great, I'd say it's pretty sheer but it can easily be build up to a complete full look.

The longevity is the next thing I'd like to rave about. Most foundations (no matter how long wearing they claim to be) have all but completely vanished by the mid afternoon, but not this one. Yes, it has faded a little, but you can certainly tell it's still there and it's definitely still doing a great job at covering the horror of my natural skin. With my other foundations I'm reaching for my Vichy Dermablend Corrective Compact Cream by midday to give myself a coverage boost, but with Dior's AirFlash I just need a little power to prevent my oiliness from coming through, which is a bloody miracle for me as I'm normally powdering every hour (there's the M bomb again).

Let's move onto the price tag. I have to admit, when I hear Dior I immediately think it's going to be  big bucks, and I am right in some aspects. The blushes/bronzers/primers etc are all more than I'd be willing to spend on such products, but I was pleasantly surprised with the cost of the foundations. The AirFlash will set you back £33 which is pretty standard for High End, you're talking the same cost of Nars Sheer Glow (plus the pesky little pump they cheeckly don't include!) Having tried Nars Sheer Glow and Sheer Matte, knowing it's a cult product, and I agree it's great but the Dior AirFlash knocks it out the park as far as I'm concerned.

I feel like I want to say so much more so I can keep raving on about this foundation but I've said all I need to say. It's easy to apply; it gives an amazing coverage and the finish is pretty much flawless. I really can't praise the AirFlash enough! I will end on this note though, the Dior counter is amazing. There was such a friendly service and I was given some great make up advice, I only went in to get colour matched and came out with a whole stunning make over! Huge thank you Dior.

Have you tried the Dior AirFlash foundation? What are your thoughts on it? Most importantly what is your favourite foundation? Let me know in the comments.

Instagram Snapbook and Blog Update

I want to start this blog with yet another apology for the HUGE lack of blogging that has been going on recently. To be more accurate; I don't think I've actually posted in 2 and a half months and I really want to change that. I haven't been great over the last 6 months and instead of making excuses and promises I'm just going to see how the next few weeks go. To try and keep me a little more motivated I've decided to make an online scrapbook (or Snapbook) as I've decided to call it, of all my Instagram pictures, explaining what I was up to or what I have been buying over the last month. This post...February!

We start off the month not actually at the start of the month! It turns out I didn't actually post a picture for 2 weeks in a row (I see similar habits with my blogging and snapping here!) Anyway, I didn't buy any make up throughout January (and I'm pretty sure in December either) and this was definitely corrected in February; as you can tell by the first two pictures.

As I'm always looking for the perfect concealer I decided to try out the Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer "hoping it's the answer to all my dark eye circle problems" as I put it. Turns out it's not quite! Although it's a great concealer for the face, I'm still not 100% sure I'm convinced it's making my under eyes less blue (but more on that in a post soon). Like every beauty blogger and their mother out there, and probably all the fashion and lifestyle bloggers out there too, I couldn't resist buying the massively disapointing advert booklet (oh sorry I think I was suppose to write magazine there) that is Elle to get my hands on the mini Roller Lash mascara from Benefit. I'm not even joking I had to go through roughly 100 pages of adverts before I even got to a full sentence, sort it out Elle! Although it's a pretty decent mascara I'm not quite sure it does what it says on the tin (again I'm sure I'll be saying more in a full post soon). We end the week with a "I'm not impressed selfie." As Sunday's always come around far too quickly I thought it was the perfect opportunity to show my 'annoyed it's Sunday evening' face!

The next picture brings a bit more joy to the equation as I was lucky enough to get some Victoria Secret vouches for winning a marketing competition at work. I put a lot of effort and time into the marketing competition and, as I'd really like to get into marketing, I was so happy to win. Yay me! Then we come to Valentine's day, which started off great but just went down hill from there. The day started with my boyfriend surprising me with a lovely Valentine's day card even though we said we weren't going to get each other anything

We started planning a lovely romantic day and then as soon as we stepped out the house my ankle went from underneath me. After hearing a pop and feeling like I'd snapped something inside my foot we slowly hobbled back home and I spent the rest of the weekend on the floor with my foot elevated...so I ruined Valentine's (hence the grumpy, lying on the floor selfie). Turns out we ended up having a fairly lovely weekend, even if it wasn't the one we had planned. We spend the whole time watching films, catching up on crap TV and just spending some quality time together which, at the end of the day, is what Valentine's is all about. Of course I had to cheer myself up once I could walk again, this 'cheering up' came in the form of Dior's AirFlash Foundations (full review coming soon).

I think the first picture was just because I was looking through old posts and found this one I loved. It was my first fashion post (not many have followed to be honest) and as I changed my twitter photo and blog photo to be this one I thought I'd go for the triple whammy and put in on Instagram too. Next we come to a time where I clearly wasn't feeling too friendly on my daily commute. The Police's 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' was my anthem of choice for that particular tube ride! Oh I'm a grumpy sod at 8am. The next photo is me testing out our new coffee machine, thankfully, as a none coffee drinker, it also does hot chocolate, so I made his and her's drinks...yummy!

Now we get to last weekend, which was one of the best ones I've had in a while. As the other half was working on Saturday and Sunday with Monday and Tuesday off, I decided to take them off with him. We start the photo's with Sunday night where I decided to cook him a nice dinner for when he got home, I also made a little fort in the living room for us to sit in and watch films all night. We then spend Monday wondering around Soho, starting with a lovely breakfast at the famous Bill's. It was the first time either of us had been and my god it was bloody delicious. On our little outing I decided to get myself a few goodies, the first being a gorgeous new coat from Mango and the I finally bought a few goodies with my Neil's Yard voucher I got for my birthday almost a year ago.

And finally we come to this weekend. As we're trying to save as much money as possible at the moment this one was a bit of a quite one. Even after only working three days this week I still needed that motivational Friday quote to get me through the day. We then spent Saturday sat in one of the best cafe's in Balham, they do the most amazing caramel hot chocolates and the tastiest mini short breads and biscuits.

So that was the month of February for me. I'm wanting to do this at the end of every month now so I better get Instagraming more :) Let me know if you like this kind of post, and if you want something more like this on the blog. It's a little different to my normal beauty post but I really enjoyed doing it. And don't forget, if you like what you see why not head over to my Instagram and give me a little follow.
