Coconut Lane Marble Loves

As Coconut Lane had its first birthday this week I thought this would be a great opportunity to express my love for them and the girls (and guys?) in the team. I also though it would be great to show the goodies I've picked up from them so far and give these (noticeably all marble) things a little bit of love in blog form.

If you haven't heard of Coconut Lane (where have you been) they are a lovely, kick ass company who stock and sell amazing accessories from stunning jewellery to Pinterest worthy cushions. They sell things that can being described as dainty and pretty alongside things that are full of character and totally sassy; and here's what I picked up.

As you can see, my favourite categories from Coconut Lane's offerings were the phone cases, notebooks and jewellery. You can also see that I was going through a very marbled themed phase at the time of my order!

Marble Products from Coconut Lane

Seriously though, the mobile phone cases Coconut Lane sell are all amazing and I'd buy them all if that wasn't totally ridiculous and completely excessive of me. The styles include comical cartoons, bad ass slogans and darn right beautiful patterns. I wanted the palm leaf case as it's gorgeous but sadly they were sold out of the iPhone 6 model when I ordered. My next choice was this beautiful marble effect one; I mean, I am a blogger after all so what else would you expect!

You also have to check out their notebooks if you place yourself on any end of the stationary fan scale. I love that the notepads aren't too thick either as I never fill them up and I always feel guilty for wasting paper if I don't reach the end.

Then we move onto the jewellery. Well, where do I start? I had to be really strict here as I'd told myself I was only allowed one piece when I placed my order, but my god was that a difficult rule to stick too. There are so many beautiful pieces to choose from, from the Turquoise Anklet to the Feather Earrings. However, I settled on this Marble Cube Bangle. I was after something classic and pretty that still showed the androgynous style I always go for when it comes to jewellery. This bracelet certainly ticked all those boxes.

As I'm trying to be sensible will my money at the moment I stopped myself after adding 3 items in my basket. But, if I gave into my inner shopaholic I would totally order myself one of the amazing marble Mac Skins and the brand new Pom Pom Keyrings. I'll also be ordering some (probably all) the prints when I get my house so I can add them to my picture wall I'm planning to create.

I'm also very honoured to be a Coconut Queen which means I get to offer you lovely lot at healthy 20% off your order if you enter the code northern20 at the checkout. If that's not tempting you to fill that virtual basket with goodies; I don't know what will.

I'll end the post with a huge Happy Birthday to Coconut Lane and a huge thank you to the team for being such a great bunch and creating a lovely community to be a part off.

Ray-Ban Brown Classic Round Fleck Sunglasses Review

Imagine my joy when I get a sneaky little text from my mum when she is off on her jollies in South Africa saying "Ray-Ban's are really cheap out here, would you like me to pick you up a pair?" Well there was only one answer to that question and that was "erm..hell bloody yes!" So skip forward a few weeks and I am now the proud owner of my forth and favourite pair of Ray-Ban's; the Round Fleck Sunglasses in Classic Brown.

I love the Ray-Ban Brown Classic Round Fleck glasses not only for the tortoiseshell styled rims (I am a sucker for a bit of tortoiseshell) but also for the feminine touch they give to the whole 'round sunnies' trend that's happening at the moment. I do have a similar pair to these (the Ray-Ban 2180's) but they have plastic around the whole frame; including the bridge and arm. As you can see with the Round Fleck Sunglasses, these two sections are made of gold metal; which again really adds that feminine touch

When it comes to buying sunglasses I always like to see what they look like with both my hair up and down as I think my hair style can change the shape of my face and therefore my whole look that day. As you can see the glasses suit both styles but I think they suit me better when my hair is up. I'm not sure if it is just in my head, or if it is an actual fact, but I think these glasses look softer on me when my hair is in a pony compared to loose.

So whilst everyone is going crazy for the Dior 'So Real' frames, I just can't seem to stray away from my beloved Ray-Ban's. I'm really not one to buy expensive branded handbags or clothes as I feel they can be a waste of money (that I just can't justify) however when it comes to sunglasses; Ray-Ban is a brand that I will always love and will always stick with. They're like Pokemon...I've just got to catch them all!!!

Let me know what your favourite brand of sunglasses is, and if your's is Ray-Ban, then which style is your favourite? Also let me know if you prefer them with my hair up or down cause I'd love your thoughts.

My Favourite Jewellery ft Black Tied, Topshop & Brand Melville

I've been getting so much more into my jewellery recently and I thought that it'd be nice to do a little post about the pieces I've really being loving at the moment. I'm one of those girls that goes through phases when it comes to my jewellery. For a few weeks at a time I'll load myself with rings, bracelets and necklaces galore and then suddenly I'll just go cold turkey; nothing but my watch.

I'm also very picky when it comes to what I wear; I don't like anything too boring but then I also don't want to be wearing anything too garish or over the top. And don't even get me started on anything too girly, I don't want any glitter or sparkles anywhere near my accessories thank you very much! I think you can definitely describe my taste in jewellery as androgynous and here are some of my favourite pieces at the moment.

Androgynous Jewellery - Black Tied

Firstly we have the love of my (jewellery) life and that's my Daniel Wellington Classic Sheffield Watch. I fell in love with this years ago but was lucky to get it for my 25th birthday and I haven't taken it off since. You won't see me out the house without this on my wrist as the simple black leather strap, large white face and rose gold trimmings makes this watch a classic timeless piece that goes with every outfit and will never age. The fact that I am from Sheffield was just an added bonus that confirmed I needed it in my life!!

Next we have my newest piece of jewellery, and it's one I just can't take my eyes off. The Black Tied Silver Bull Skull Southwestern Necklace just sums up my favourite style of jewellery in one piece. I love the detail, I love the roughness of it and I love the style of it. I think it's masculine but with a feminine twist. This necklace has a 36inch chain which means it rests nicely smack bang in the middle of your top when wearing it. I like to wear this with just a plain jumper or t-shirt to add a bit of style and a focus point to a plain outfit. I've had so many compliments on this piece and have introduced Black Tied into many people's lives since I got it. I'm totally in love and feel it won't be long before I'm making another Black Tied order.

Speaking of Black Tied, these two little Sterling Silver Above Knuckle Midi Ring bands are perfect for any midi ring lovers out there. The style is very simple but that's what I want from a midi ring. The two come together as a set which is great because it means I can wear one on each hand. These look great on their own but also work well when I'm wearing my other chunky rings to help create more of a statement look. I find midi rings either sit just above the knuckle or fit nicely in between both joins on a finger and these rings do the latter.

Then we come to my two antique styled rings. I've always been a lover of this style so when I saw the Milky Jade Oval Stone Ring (top of the picture) on a recent trip to Brandy Melville, I knew straight away it would be coming home with me. And it was also love at first sight with the Topshop Tequiose Gemstone Ring (sadly no longer in stock). I don't tend to wear these rings at the same time but if I do I make sure they are placed on different hands. I'm also not really a big fan of rings on my index finger so they live on either my middle or ring fingers. I can't decide which I love more out of these two.

On a side note, a quick tip for high street jewellery is to coat it with clear nail varnish to stop it from going bronze or turning you finger green once it's exposed to moisture. Anyway back to the post...

Next we have this thin rectangle necklace from topshop. I love the simplicity in this piece as when I'm wearing shorter necklaces I don't like them to be too chunky or in your face. Unfortunately this is the third one of these I have had to buy as they keep breaking, but I love it so much I have just kept swapping them rather than giving up on it. Again this goes with ever outfit and makes a subtle   statement when you're wearing a busier outfit.

Last but not least we have this Gilded Arrow Bangle from Stella & Dot. I've had this bracelet for years now and if I was to buy it again I think would get it in silver but I still love wearing this piece from time to time. I love arrow jewellery and I'm looking to get something similar in ring form (so if you know of where I can get one please let me know in the comments).

And that's it, the pieces I've been loving recently. I'm hoping to add to my collection but for now I'll have to make do with loving these 8 pieces. What are you favourite jewellery brands and what style of jewellery do you normally go for? Let me know below.

Kimono Nights Out

The other night (well actually it was a few weeks ago now as it was still warmish) I went for a few drinks for a mates birthday. I decided to bust out my Kimono for the occasion and since Kimono's are being sold left right and centre at the moment I thought I'd model an outfit similar to the one I wore. And here it is...

Kimono Nights Out

As I wanted the Kimono to do all the talking I paired it with a plain white cami. I am loving the silk v-necked Topshop ones at the moment. Well actually I have loved them since I got them in summer. I think I pretty much lived in them on holiday. I also went for my cream one as I didn't want anything to take the attention away from the detail of my Kimono.

I then threw my Kimono over the top. Mine is a dark cream/beige colour and has black silhouettes of birds flying up from the bottom. I also go this from Topshop and I love it so much, but the one in this picture really stood out to me. I love it's pastel colours and the tassels. I find Kimono's are so feminine looking but because they are quite baggy, they are great for those who are having a particularly 'frumpy' day.

I then added my staple Topshop Leigh skinny jeans which go with everything, I didn't mean for all my clothes to be Topshop but sometimes it just happens!! I went with simple jewellery and just had a plain gold chunky necklace, my usual watch and my Urban Outfiters midi rings. I am obsessed with gold jewellery, always have been and always will!

I'm not a girl who likes dainty shoes. I like them big, I like the chunky and I usually prefer some sort of boot. For this outfit I went for such a thing, a wedged boot. Mine are from Matt Alan (or Matalan as other people like to call it) and there are gorgeous, people compliment them all the time which is always lovely for a girl to hear. They are significantly nicer than the ones in the picture but these were as close as I could find.

Finally, the finishing touches were left to an oversized clutch bag (an every girls must have) and, of course, my YSL red lippy. Everyone feels more dressed up when they are wearing red lippy right?!?

What are your thought's on Kimono's? Are they just for the summer or can they be a staple piece in our winter wardrobes?

A Day In The Life At The Office: Style Post

A day in the life of work

Right this is my second style post and it's a bit more formal and stylish than last time. This is pretty much exactly what I wear to work on a day to day basis. I am lucky that, although I work in a professional environment, there is a fairly relaxed feel when it come to what you wear. Yes all the men wears suits but the ladies have a more casual approach going on which means I don't have to invest in a hideous 'lady suit.'

Ok, lady suits are sort of in fashion right now. You know the beautiful and bold matching trousers and jacket, usually floral? They are amazing but there not what you'd wear to work. When I say lady suit here I mean the polyester black or grey suits that aren't the most stylish. So, as I refuse to wear one, this is the style I go for.

I wear a nice collared blouse, usually in black and white, to make myself look smart. Pairing this with a pair of black jeans relaxes the look without making it look too casual. I've always thought black jeans looked smarter, is that just me?!? I finally throw on a cotton blazer to help add a fashionable twist on the typical smart style.

Accessories wise, despite being rather tall I find a pair of heels makes me feel more professional. I don't want to feel like I'm on a night out here so a chunky heel is a safe bet. I love the Chelsea Boot  style and again think it brings the traditional smart look to the younger generations. Although many may disagree I think the tan and black colours together, really work hence the boots and bag. Obviously I wear a satchel styled bag for work cause satchel equals intelligent right?!?

Finally, I tend to avoid jewellery as braclettes bash against the desk whilst I'm typing and I fiddle with my rings too much when I'm sat at a computer. I therefore stick with my trusty everyday chunky gold watch.

I love my office style and would wear it on a weekend if it didn't remind me of having to be up stupidly early! What do you think of it? Would it be something you'd style together or even something you'd wear for work? What is your outfit of choice for the office? Let me know below.

On A Day Like Today: Style Post

So this is my first proper styling post. I have done a outfit of the day post before but I was a bit under confident about it so thought I would use Polyvore to create some looks I usually wear, without having to take pictures of myself. So here we go...

on a day like today

On a day like today where I'm not feeling well but I had to leave the house (to go to the walk in centre) I go for a comfy look. I want something that I can feel warm and snuggley in so a big woolly jumper does the trick nicely but still looks stylish.

I go for a pair of comfy skinny jeans because, even though I'm feeling crappy, a girls got to try right!? Flat shoes are also a must as they're just practical. When you're in a rush and want to get home asap, flats mean no sore feet. Finally a woolly hat is what I wear for a little extra warmth. It's not too cold yet here in London and the sun is actually still shinning, so no coat is needed. This little accessory just keeps the heat in a little (and also hides the fact I haven't washed my hair today) and adds a small splash of colour.

As you can see I have left out any jewellery, although I love a good necklace with an outfit, and like to wear as many rings as possible on a day to day basis, on sick days jewellery just annoys me. I can't be doing with fiddly bits to my outfit so I pass on anything dainty all together.

I hope you liked my first style post, it's just something a bit simple but I like it and think I will be doing more like this. How do you find the outfit I picked? Would you wear it on a 'day like this'?
